10th International Nursing Conference : Advanced Practices in Forensic Nursing
A two-day international conference on “Advanced Practices in Forensic Nursing” was organized by Akal College of Nursing, Eternal University at Baru Sahib. The conference in collaboration with Drexel University U.S.A, concluded on Saturday 15th Oct 2022. In 2008, Akal College of Nursing is the 1st college of Nursing to start B.Sc Nursing & M.Sc.Nursing in the state of Himachal Pradesh under the divine and eternal guidance of Saints Honourable Padmashree Baba Iqbal Singh Ji. Revered Baba Dr. Davinder Singh Ji, Chancellor- Eternal University and President of The Kalgidhar Trust Baru Sahib inaugurated the conference with his inspirational words on Nursing as a “Spiritual Profession” in which love and compassion showered on the patient would go much long way in providing healing than all the medicine that doctors can give. He emphasized that the nurses should stand on their own and not by holding the tailcoats of doctors. He inspired the nursing fraternity to become pioneers and leaders in the virgin field of health care. Dr. Jill B. Derstine, former Professor from Drexel University, USA, was the Chief Guest of the conference. A total of more than 600 delegates from 12 states of the country participated in the conference. We also had participants from 32 colleges across the country attending this conference. In this 2 day International Conference, hosted by Akal College of Nursing under guidance of Dr. Neelam Kaur, Advisor- Health & Education, The Kalgidhar Trust, and other eminent resource persons from the USA and India contributed with their significant knowledge about “Advanced Practices in Forensic Nursing”. Sandra Friedman from Drexel University USA, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Gorea, Father of Forensic Nursing from Punjab, Dr. Sangeet Dhillon, Head, Department of Forensic Medicine from Nahan (Himachal Pradesh), Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma from Rajasthan, Dr. Raman Kalia from Punjab, Dr. Deepti Shukla from Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Binu Joe from Gujarat, Prof. Mehmooda Regu from Jammu & Kashmir, Dr. Jeyadeepa from West Bengal and Mrs. Sunita Verma from Shimla, Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma from Maharashtra shared valuable inputs on forensic Nursing.
