A Short Term Training Programme on "Nanomaterials Synthesis and Characterization Techniques" [STTP- NSCT, March 2023] was organized by Department of Physics, Akal College of Basic Sciences, Eternal University, Baru Sahib from March 24, 2023 to March 26, 2023.  The main objective of the program was to provide the information of the fundamentals of materials science and nanotechnology to the participants. Moreover, the aim is to train them for synthesis and characterization of nonmaterials for a wide range of applications. Participants in the training program were from Post Graduate Govt College for Girls (PGGCG), Sector 42, Punjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. SSBUICET, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Swami Vivekananda Govt. College (SVGC) Ghumarwin, HPU Shimla.  Physics department at Eternal University Baru Sahib extensively involved in developing eco-friendly nanomaterials, ceramics and composites in materials science & nanotechnology laboratory. This research has resulted in high quality publications, conference proceedings and significant number of patents. Program was started with lightning of the lamp ceremony and Shabad Kirtan on March 24, 2023. The welcome address of the training was delivered by Dean Akal College of Basic Sciences, Dr. Sandipan Gupta. Dr. Puneet Negi, Head, Department of Physics presented the brief introduction of the Department and overview of the training program. Pro Vice chancellor, Dr. A.S. Ahluwalia explained about the vision of the university that is word peace through value based education. The chief guest of the event, Vice Chancellor Eternal University, President Kalgidhar Trust, Baba Dr. Davinder Singh Ji explained about the importance of the moral values and he said the scientific research should be for the betterment of the mankind. He also encourages the participants to learn something that will help to others. At the end, Dr Poonam Kumari, Assistant Professsor Physics delivered vote of thanks to all gathering. During this inaugural session Dean, HoDs of various colleges and departments respectively including Dr Madan Lal, Assistant Professor, Physics & students of department Physics were present in the university auditorium.  Training program was concluded on March 26, 2023 with a “Nature Walk” on the last forenoon. During the training program, distinguish lecturers were delivered by Dr. Vinod Kumar from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine campus on “Nanomaterials for Sustainable Future”; by Dr. G.S. Virdi, a former Director Scale Scientist of CSIR-CEERI, Pilani on “Lab-On-A-Chip Devices”; by Dr. Puneet Negi, HoD Physics and faculty members Dr. Poonam Kumari and Dr. Madan Lal on main theme of the training program. Research scholars, Ms. Deeksha, Ms. Gagandeep Kaur, Ms. Priyanka and Ms. Nisha Devi demonstrated experiments to all the participants under the guidance of faculty members. Dr. Nasir Ahmad and Dr. Tajender Pal Singh demonstrated high quality nanomaterials characterization facilities available at Food Safety and quality control laboratory in the campus which is running under the headship of Dr. Krishan Kumar.  Mr. Shukla Ji explained the group about the activities of solid waste management in the campus. In the valedictory session, Dr. Sandipan Gupta, Dean Akal College of Basic Sciences congratulate the organizing committee for successful completion of the event. Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. AS Ahluwalia congratulated all the participants for successful completion of the training program.  Dr. Gurpreet Kaur from PGGCG, Panjab University, Chandigarh expressed her satisfaction regarding the training program and divine culture of the campus. Participants, Kummud Sharma & Megha from PGGCG, Chandigarh and Shivani & Ekta from SVGCG Ghumarvin also shared their experiences highlighting adequate facilities available on the campus.
