Visit to Ramsar wetland to study the faunal diversity

The Zoology Department organized a visit for its students to explore the diversity of fauna, both aquatic and terrestrial. A total of 25 students, along with two teachers, Mr. Balbinder Singh and Dr. Preety Tomar, visited the wetland. Firstly, the students visited the famous Renuka Ji temple and then moved towards the lake. Renuka wetland possesses rich biodiversity. Renuka Lake is a revered pilgrim centre surrounded by lush green forests supporting a variety of animal and bird life. It is the largest natural lake in Himachal Pradesh. The students visited Minizoo while walking around the lake that contained Ghoral, Kakkar, Chital, Hare, Black Bear, Monkey, Leopard, and Languor. They watched varieties of birds such as pheasants, partridges, parrots, jungle fowl, migratory birds, ducks, fish, and tortoises. The wetland also possesses a wide range of butterflies. Overall, the students enjoyed themselves and learned a lot.
