Observing Nature through Heart

Nature walk promotes the health of the mind, the body, and the spirit. Taking a walk or a hike to enjoy the scenery, the fresh air and the activity can help in calming and clearing the mind, managing stress and depression and improving one's overall health. It also provides opportunities for learning experiences in a variety of subjects such as science, geography, math, and art. Each nature walk offers something different for students to explore – even if they walk the same trails from one day to the next. Akal College of Education, Baru Sahib, organised an educational trail for the B. Ed. students on September 25, 2021 under the supervision of Dr. Tanu Sharma and Ms. Babita Rayta. Forty eight students participated in the activity. A nature walk senses activity was given to students in which students have to listen to different sounds, to brainstorm what they can smell, to look around and write down what they see and what it feels like to make them immerse themselves in the environment. Students looked around their surroundings for artistic inspiration on nature walks and also collected objects to be included in a piece of art, such as pieces of bark, dried leaves and sticks. They enjoyed tracking and also visited Bio waste management plant in Baru Sahib
