Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorder
One Day Workshop was organized by the Psychology Department on ASD (autism spectrum disorder). In which Mr Ankush Dhiman (lecturer special Education with Mental Retardation & specialized in Neurotherapy, Rehabilitation Centre for person with multiple disability Prem Ashram, Una, HP) had invited as a resource person. Our students took full advantage of his knowledge. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) basically is a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how people interact with others, communicate, learn, and behave. Although autism can be diagnosed at any age, it is described as a “developmental disorder” because symptoms generally appear in the first two years of life. It is called a "spectrum" disorder because people with ASD can have a range of symptoms. People with ASD might have problems talking with you, or they might not look you in the eye when you talk to them. They may also have restricted interests and repetitive behaviours. They may spend a lot of time putting things in order, or they may say the same sentence again and again. They may often seem to be in their "own world."
The students of the entire Psychology department & Akal college of Education participated actively to make this event successful.
