The Department of English since its inception has been playing a pivotal role in establishing itself as a tour de force in terms of learning and leading minds. The department has been equipped with sound sources and resources. It has skilled professors who are qualified in their respective domains to enhance the credentials of the department as well as the students. The department is not only contributing its services to Akal College of Arts & Social Sciences, but as an offshoot department it is also rendering its services to other Colleges /Departments of the university like Agriculture, Commerce, Management, Basic Sciences and Engineering. The department strives to carry forth intriguing research and have Doctoral students working in myriad areas. Keeping in mind the holistic development of the students , separate academic activities are held in the department from time to time. Currently the Department runs Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral Programs. It also has a Communication Lab where it provides the students with a hands-on experience in linguistics and phonetics.
