NOTIFICATION

This notification Dated 30 June, 2025 is to inform all concerned that the Department of Music, Eternal University will be participating in the Akal International Youth Camp organized at Baru Sahib Gurudwara, Himachal Pradesh from 07 July 2025 to 14 August 2025.

They will be teaching and guiding the NRI Sikh attendees in Gurmat Sangeet, String Instruments, Tabla, Punjabi Language, and Gurbani Santhia, as part of the camp’s objective to educate western youth about Sikh religion and its philosophy of "Sarbat Da Bhalla" and to provide them with a direct experience of the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

This initiative is being undertaken under the guidance and blessings of Chancellor (Babaji), Eternal University, Baru Sahib Gurudwara, Himachal Pradesh.

Report of Akal International Youth Camp 2025

Venue:  Baru Sahib Gurudwara, Himachal Pradesh, India

Dates:   7th July 2025 – 14th August 2025

Introduction:

The 23rd Akal International Youth Camp 2025 has been organized at the serene and spiritual setting of Baru Sahib Gurudwara, Himachal Pradesh, with the vision of educating Western Youth about the Sikh religion and its profound philosophy of "Sarbat Da Bhalla", meaning blessings, prosperity, and happiness for all.

Purpose of the Camp:

This camp aimed to give participants a direct experience of the blissful teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, encouraging them to adopt and understand the core Sikh practices such as Amrit Vela (early morning prayer), Naam Japna (meditation on God’s Name), and Nitnem Path (daily prayers).

Participation:

A total of 56 participants from different countries including USA, UK, Canada, China and Australia joined this camp, representing the Sikh diaspora eager to reconnect with their spiritual roots.

Activities and Highlights:

  • Daily Amrit Vela: Campers gathered before dawn to participate in meditation and kirtan, cultivating inner peace and discipline.
  • Naam Simran & Nitnem: Guided sessions helped campers connect deeply with the Gurbani through recitation and contemplation.
  • Workshops & Talks: Inspirational lectures and interactive workshops on Sikh history, values, and the message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, tailored to resonate with youth from the west.
  • Seva (Selfless Service): Participants engaged in langar preparation, cleaning, and serving, embodying the principle of humility and service to humanity. 
    • Cultural Immersion: Exposure to Sikh traditions, music, and ethos in an authentic Gurudwara environment.
    • Q&A Sessions: Open forums allowed participants to clarify doubts and explore the spiritual and philosophical aspects of Sikhism.

    Special Contribution of Music Department:

    The students and faculty members of the Music Department contributed significantly to the camp by providing teaching and guidance in:

    • Gurmat Sangeet (devotional Sikh music)
    • String instruments
    • Tabla (percussion)
    • Punjabi language
    • Gurbani Santhia (correct recitation of scriptures)

    These sessions enriched the campers’ experience, enabling them to learn not only about Sikh philosophy but also its cultural and musical heritage.

    Outcomes:

    • Campers developed an understanding of Sikh spirituality beyond rituals, focusing on the universal message of love, equality, and selfless service.
    • Many participants expressed a profound sense of inner joy and spiritual awakening through early morning prayers and naam simran.
    • The teaching sessions by the Music Department deepened their connection to Sikh music and language.
    • The camp fostered friendships and bonds among participants from diverse backgrounds, united by shared experiences and spiritual growth.

    Conclusion:

    The Akal International Youth Camp 2025 successfully fulfilled its objective of introducing western youth (NRI) to the Sikh way of life and its philosophy of Sarbat Da Bhalla. Through immersive practices, meaningful interactions, seva, and the guidance of the Music Department in Gurmat Sangeet and Gurbani, campers left with not just knowledge but also a personal experience of the timeless teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji — carrying with them the spirit of prayer, humility, and universal goodwill.
