Activity Name: One Day-LaTex Training  Workshop Program

Brief Description
Department of Mathematics, Eternal University, organized One-Day LaTeX Training Program on 13/09/2025 in two well-structured sessions. The program commenced with the morning session from 09:15 AM to 01:00 PM. The session began with a warm welcome address by Professor Surjan Singh, Head of department of Mathematics, who extended greetings to all faculty members, dignitaries, and students. The event was graced by the presence of Dr.T.S. Bani pal,Dean of Academic Affairs; Dr. Kamal Kishore, Dean, Akal College of Basic Sciences; Dr. S.K. Chauhan, Dean, Akal College of Economics, Commerce, and Management; Dr. Kajal Chaudhary, Associate Professor; and all faculty members ofthe Mathematics Department . In the inaugural remarks, Dr. T.S. Banipal motivated the students to take full advantage of this opportunity and highlighted the importance of skill development in modern academic research. Dr.Kamal Kishore emphasized the relevance of LaTeX in preparing high-quality scientific and mathematical documents, while Dr. S.K. Chauhan explained the need for students to adopt LaTeX as a professional tool for creating reports, assignments, and research papers.
Following the welcome and inaugural addresses, Dr. Surjan Singh conducted ahighly informative technical session. Through an engaging PowerPoint presentation, he introduced students to LaTeX, explaining its structure, benefits over traditional word processors, and its application in typesetting mathematical equations, creating research articles, and preparing formal documents. The session also covered basic LaTeX commands, document compilation, and formatting tips.
In preparation for the hands-on session, the research scholars of the Mathematics Department — Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Ms. Manpreet Kaur, and Ms. Kanwal preet Kaur — had pre-installed the LaTeX software on the students’laptops before the program, ensuring that participants were ready to engage in the practical training without technical delays.
The afternoon session, conducted from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM, was dedicated to hands-on training and practical learning. Students were asked to bring their laptops and were given step-by-step instructions to create LaTeX documents from scratch. The session covered writing and formatting mathematical equations, preparing assignments, creating title pages, and compiling documents into PDF format. All the participant learn about the thesis writing in LaTex.
Throughout the session, faculty members of mathematics department Dr. Soni Bisht, Dr. Shivani, Dr. Bharti Thakur, and Ms. Harpreet Kaur and research scholars actively assisted students, going from desk to desk to solve individual queries, help them run LaTeX commands correctly, and troubleshoot errors. This personal guidance ensured that every student was able to compile at least one complete LaTeX document during the training. The collaborative environment made the session lively, interactive, and highly productive. Bythe end of the program, students had gained hands-on experience and confidence inworking with LaTeX, laying a strong foundation for its use in their future academic and research work.
