Purpose & Objectives

  1. To engage students critically with the concept of multidisciplinary education as introduced in NEP 2020.
  2. To explore how the discipline of Music can connect with other fields such as Technology, Psychology, Literature, and Science.
  3. To encourage student-led discussion, teamwork, and exchange of ideas.
  4. To generate practical suggestions for improving the departmental curriculum through interdisciplinary learning.
  5. To develop communication, reasoning, and critical thinking skills among students.

  6. Report

    The Department of Music organized a Group Discussion on “Multidisciplinary Education under NEP 2020” on 9th October 2025 in the Music Department Performance Room.
    A total of 12 students from B.A. 3rd Semester participated enthusiastically in the activity.

    During the discussion, students shared their views on the importance of NEP 2020 and how it benefits students by promoting skill-based, flexible, and holistic education. They discussed both the advantages and challenges of implementing multidisciplinary learning in higher education.

    Participants highlighted that NEP 2020 encourages the combination of arts, science, and technology to help students gain broader knowledge and practical skills. They also suggested ways in which the Music Department could collaborate with other disciplines to make learning more creative and relevant.

    The discussion provided students with an opportunity to express their thoughts freely and learn from each other’s perspectives. It helped them understand how NEP 2020 aims to prepare students for future challenges through integrated and practical education.

    Conclusion

    The group discussion was a fruitful and enriching experience for all participants. Students actively engaged with the key ideas of the NEP 2020 and proposed innovative suggestions for cross-disciplinary learning. Their enthusiasm and thoughtful participation reflected a strong interest in improving the learning environment.

    With continued encouragement and institutional support, the Department of Music can move toward a more flexible, creative, and multidisciplinary approach to education in the future.
