● The session opened with an overview of the importance of cybersecurity in today’s
digital era, emphasizing the need for awareness and safeguarding personal and
organizational data.
● Ms. Avinash Preet Kaur explained the main fields in cybersecurity: Network Security
(protecting data during transfer across networks) and Information Security (ensuring the
protection of stored and processed data).
● Students were introduced to the two major cybersecurity roles:
● Blue Team: Focused on defense, monitoring, and maintaining security within
organizations.
● Red Team: Engaged in ethical attack simulation to expose vulnerabilities and
improve defenses.
Core Cybersecurity Concepts
● The session clarified the Three Pillars of Cybersecurity:
● Confidentiality: Ensuring only authorized access to sensitive information.
● Integrity: Maintaining the accuracy and reliability of data.
● Availability: Guaranteeing timely and reliable access to information when needed.
● Additional critical concepts discussed included Authentication (verifying users) and
Authorization (granting appropriate permissions).
● The importance of Risk Management was stressed to help organizations prioritize and
address security measures effectively, maximizing protection with existing resources.
● Threat Intelligence was discussed as a strategy for staying ahead of cyber threats by
proactively identifying and responding to emerging security risks.
Cyberattack Awareness
● Ms. Kaur raised awareness about prevalent cyber threats:
● Malware: Harmful software designed to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to
systems.
● Denial-of-Service (DoS) Attacks: Attacks that disrupt normal functioning of
networks/services by overwhelming them with traffic.
Practical Cyber Safety Tips
● The speaker shared actionable guidance for enhancing daily cyber safety:
● Use strong, unique passwords for online accounts.
● Change passwords regularly to prevent unauthorized access.
● Keep software and devices updated to patch vulnerabilities.
Career Insights
● The session concluded with insights into diverse career opportunities in the cybersecurity
domain, encouraging students to consider roles such as security analysts, penetration
testers, cyber forensics experts, and more.

● The workshop saw active participation, with more than 150 students from B.Tech and
