Farm Visited:Visited Mr. Arjun Attri’s Farm of village Parada located on Rajgarhà Nahan
Introduction: On 27th October, 2025 a
group of 35 students of B.Sc. (Hons) Ag 3rd Sem and two students of M.Sc
Ag. Agricultural Economics was accompanied by Dr S. K Chauhan to examine
the role of community livelihood business activities performed by innovative
and progressive agri-preneur Mr Arjun Attri of village Parada located on
Rajgarh Nahan state highway nearly 22 km from Eternal University, Baru
Sahib. The students held interaction with the farmer and collected information
on socio economic aspects. The students shared their theoretical knowledge
and learned about beekeeping with indigenous honeybees, structure of apiary
houses, and dairy farming with sahiwal cows. Nursery raised under a protected
and open environment of fruits (apple, walnut, kiwi, peach, plum, etc) was
shown to the students. The Agro- horti model with high density plantation of
apple and cultivation of garlic beneath the apple plants performed with
high-tech techniques were the unique entrepreneurship business modules for
visualizing by the students. Model of water harvesting management through
delivery pipes from small cemented tanks & rain harvesting storage earthen
water tanks and gravity system was explained by the progressive farmer in
detail. The entire village was found having a perennial source of spring water
from the top head of the village having 40 households.
The farmer organized a trip to playhouses in different locations where
students could notice the walnut nurseries and upgraded their knowledge through
interaction. Among fruit nurseries and plants; the students could physically
see well managed growth of apricot, walnut, kiwi, persimmon and apple plants.
The students also learned that the farmer has signed MoU with Dr. Y.S. Parmar
University of Horticulture & Forestry Solan, SKUAST, Srinagar and CSK HPKV,
Palampur for the sale of fruit nurseries with 20% commission on the plant sale
proceeds. The youth entrepreneur explained in detail the practices followed by
him to make optimum use of resources and to get remunerative prices for his
vegetables and fruit nurseries. In a nutshell the students learned how a farmer
using modern agriculture technology can become a successful entrepreneur and
may earn a handsome amount of nearly Rs. 30 lakh per annum through the model of
integrated farming. His future plan is to raise a separate kiwi orchard under
the newly developed land.
FOREST NURSERY& MARKET VISITS ON 18th AUGUST, 2025

Agriculture Students of Eternal University
Performed Plantation Activity and Learned Marketing Strategies of Cash Crops at
Kheri. On dated 18th August, 2025, the B.Sc (Hons) second year students under
the guidance of course instructor Dr S.K Chauhan of agricultural finance
performed plantation activity around the Government Department Forest nursery
at Kheri where Mr Bhagat the forest guard of Dimber beat alongwith his
supporting staff gave hands-on training to the students about raising nursery
of various fodder and timber species plants. The students learned the
techniques of planting new saplings and each student took part in the
plantation drive around the nursery area. Thereafter, the students were made a
round of entire nursery spread in 1.5 ha area where they could see nursery
plants raised in poly tubes such as neem, reetha (soapnut), bamboo, bhera,
jamun, mulberry, beul, amla, wild pomegranate, etc. The class representative Ms
Parinita Singh presented a vote of thanks to the entire staff of the forest
department. Thereafter, the students were taken to agriculture produce market,
Kheri where they held interaction with Mr Surender and Kapil Dev, traders cum commission
agents who educated the students with regard to the methods and mechanism of
sale and disposal of cash crops especially of garlic, tomato, capsicum,
chilies, and beans. The students learned that garlic produced in Sirmour
district is being exported to Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi and many within
state markets of Himachal Pradesh. According to traders for seed purposes it is
imported from Jammu Kashmir.
