Fundamentals of Investing, Initial Public Offers (IPOs), Buying & Selling of Securities & Impact of Corporate Actions
Two days webinar entitled above was organized by the Akal College of Economics, Commerce and Management on 30th September and 1st October, 2021. On the very first day, Dean of the college, Dr. S K Chauhan enthusiastically welcomed Er Amit Gupta, the resource person and all participants. In his short welcome address he gave a brief introduction of Eternal University and about the demography and economy of Himachal Pradesh. Afterwards, Engineer Amit Gupta (SEBI empanelled securities market trainer) meticulously through simple examples imparted knowledge to the participants on primary market, Initial Public Offers (IPOs), the rights and responsibilities of shareholders, book building mechanism, red hearing prospectus, abridged prospectus, and various other issues related to IPOs. After lecture the audience cum participants clarified their doubts and expressed gratitude to the host speaker.
On the second day, Engineer Amit Gupta showed mutual fund-related videos to create awareness from investor’s point of view and to motivate the participants. Afterward, he explained the concept of bonus share and dividends with the help of an example. He gave an example of Infosys to describe the power of bonus issue to the investors. He also clarified the difference between stock split and bonus share. In his concluding remarks Engineer Gupta also replied to the questions submitted in the chat box by the participants.
In the end, Mr. Srivastava and Ms. Kuldeep Kaur expressed vote of thanks to the expert, participants, the Dean of the college and administration. The participants who filled in feedback proforma were issued online certificates.
