National Mathematics Day
Eternal University, Baru Sahib celebrated the National Mathematics Day on 22nd December 2021 in collaboration and support from HIMCOSTE, Shimla to mark the birth anniversary of legendary Indian mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan and his contributions to the field of mathematics. The main objective of the event was to make students realize the practical and daily life applications of mathematics in science, engineering and other allied areas. Sudents of various departments of Eternal University, Akal Academy, Akal Model School, Baru Sahib and Gurukul Peach Valley School, Rajgarh enthusiastically presented and participated in the events. The program started with a welcome address by Dr. Neelam Thakur, Assistant Professor followed by Lectures of Dr. Surjan Singh on genius Ramanujan and Dr. Sandipan Gupta, Dean, Akal College of Basic Sciences on finite state machine. After this the chief guest Prof. A.S. Ahluwalia, Pro-Vice Chancellor addressed the faculty and participants on the importance of National Mathematics Day. Various events such as Mathematics Olympiad, Sudoku puzzle competition, Poster presentation, skit and slogan writing were held. Theme of the poster presentation and slogan writing was “Mathematics for a better world”. A skit on Sir Ramanujan’s life was played by the students of Akal College of Basic Sciences. Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Ms. Pallavi and Ms. Sangeeta Bhardwaj of Eternal University won first prize in Mathematics Olympiad for Level IV, III and II, respectively. Mr. Anay Sharma of Akal Model school, Baru Sahib and Mr. Arman Thakur of Gurukul Peach Valley School, Rajgarh shared the first prize in Mathematics Olympiad at Level I. In the poster presentation Ms. Mahak Parmar of Eternal University and Ms. Srishti Singh of Gurukul Peach Valley School, Rajgarh shared the first prize. Ms. Gagandeep Kaur of Eternal University and Ms. Kajal Sharma, Gurukul Peach Valley School, Rajgarh won the first prize in slogan writing. Ms. Manpreet Kaur of Eternal University won the first prize in Sudoku puzzle competition. Finally, the celebrations concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Dileep Kumar Sharma, Assistant Professor, ACET, Eternal University.
