COMPETITION HELD IN VARIOUS DOMAINS ESSAY WRITING/ TEXT READING / DECLAMATION

The month of August witnessed fervor in students when the Department of English had announced the monthly activity in the form of competitions for the students of Humanities. Turning in large numbers the students participated with great zeal. The Department conducted the activities under the surveillance and guidance of the respected Head of the Department, Dr Ambika Sharma.The activities were conducted on Saturday, 26 August 2023 at 10am -12noon in separate venues by the designated GTO’s. The students participated in good numbers and presented their work on different thematic concerns like Education, Technology, Crime and Punishment, Globalization, Work and Employment etc. After the successful closure of the event the prize distribution ceremony was held in the auditorium. The students who secured First, Second and Third positions were felicitated with certificates. Also, they were called forward to speak on their topics.The students thanked the Head of the Department and teachers of the Department for conducting such activities which provided them with a platform to showcase their talent and boosted their confidence. The coordinator for the felicitation program Ms Harsimar Kaur also motivated the students to keep going forward with learning. Ms Rampreet Kaur, PhD Research Scholar had addressed the students with the importance of L.S.R.W skills in life and how writing and speaking forms a very crucial part of our day to day dealings. Dr Geeta laid importance on the character building and holistic development. Ms Avneet highlighted how the activities can also be subject centric like history quiz, current affairs quiz so as to help the students to hone their skills in every respect.In the end the Head of the Department, Dr Ambika Sharma was called forward to address the students. She harped upon the importance of learning and always participating in such activities. She emphasized on the Value based education which Eternal University stands for and asked the students to become leaders in their life.The Vote of Thanks was given by Ms. Kawaljot Kaur who thanked the respected Dean of ACA&SS Dr Purvi Luniyal, The Head of the Dept. of English Dr Ambika Sharma and the active faculty members of Department of English for making the event a success. She formally closed the event with a quote from Gurbani "Without the True Guru, understanding is not obtained. Meditation, penance and austere self-discipline are found by surrendering to the True Guru's Will."
