Competitive Examination & Guest Lectures

For the first time in the university the Akal College of Economics, Commerce and Management conducted junior and senior level National Accounting Talent Search (NATS) Examination, 2019 on 03.02.2019. In this test, 21 candidates at junior and 03 at senior level did appeared. Ms. Simranjeet Kaur (BCM18020) stood first in the center at Eternal University, Baru Sahib. She has won Rs 1000 cash prize, a certificate and memento to be received by her in an annual function to be held at Osmania University, Hyderabad in December, 2019.

During 2020 the same test was conducted on 02.02.2020. In this test, 21 candidates at junior and 03 at senior level did appeared. Ms. Vandana Thakur (BS17BCM32) at senior level and Ms. Ashwin Kaur (BS17BCM004) at junior level stood first in the center at Eternal University, Baru Sahib. She has won Rs 1000 cash prize, a certificate and memento was received by her in an annual function held at Osmania University, Hyderabad in December, 2020.

In addition one lecture was delivered by a guest faculty (Dr. Virender Kumar) on Agriculture Development in Himachal Pradesh on 26.03.2019.The speaker mentioned that agriculture sector in Himachal Pradesh engage nearly 70 percent of working population, however it accounts for only 15 percent of GSDP. In the lecture, he further discussed about overall agricultural development and constraints in Himachal Pradesh. He also highlighted challenges in agriculture with respect to production, productivity, irrigation, electricity consumption and mechanization in agriculture sector. In his lecture he emphasized that the market for agriculture needs to be strengthened. Dr. D. K. Sharma special invitee supplemented his view and said that vegetable farming has much scope in Himachal Pradesh and cultivation of exotic vegetables is now a better option for farmers in furthering the process of diversification. Students and faculty did actively participate and got answers for their queries.
