International Microorganism Day
Department of Microbiology, Eternal University, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), celebrated International Microorganism Day 2025 on 17 September 2025 with great enthusiasm at the University Auditorium. The event, held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Nasib Singh, Head of the Department of Microbiology, who set the tone by emphasizing the vital role microbes play in sustaining ecosystems and supporting human life.
The session featured a series of engaging MicroTalks and creative presentations.
Dr. Hemant Dasila delivered an insightful talk on “Microbes as Industrial Workhorses”, shedding light on how microbes contribute to pharmaceuticals, food, and environmental sustainability.
A vibrant video presentation, “Microbes in Action”, prepared by students, showcased the unseen and fun memories of Microbiology students.
Prof. Nasib Singh further captivated the audience with his MicroTalk on “Microbes: the Engines of Life”.
Adding a dose of creativity, students performed a skit that humorously depicted the advantages and disadvantages of microbes in daily life, winning loud applause from the audience.
The scientific spirit continued with Dr. Bharti talk on “Antonie van Leeuwenhoek – A Biography”, paying tribute to the pioneer of microbiology. This was followed by another student-led video, “Amazing Microbial Avengers”, which portrayed student work with microbes. The segment “Microbial Hall of Fame” highlighted notable student achievements of Department of Microbiology.
The formal addresses were delivered by the distinguished guests:
Prof. Kamal Kishore, Dean of Akal College of Basic Sciences, who shared valuable insights as the Guest of Honour.
Prof. T.S. Banipal, Dean Academic Affairs, graced the event as the Chief Guest, encouraging students to continue exploring the microbial world with passion and curiosity.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Dr. Naresh Kumar, President of the IIC, who acknowledged the contributions of faculty, students, and collaborators in making the event a grand success.
