Silage Unit
Worldwide, there is a high demand of good‐quality silage which provides conserved forage to the livestock due to high competition in limited arable land. Today, a good quality feed production is the major environmental hotspots in livestock production. In sustainable animal production, ensiling fodders faces many challenges and offers chances to increase the farm productivity at the same time reducing environmental impacts. The Eternal University has already constructed 2 silo pits in the premises of Akal Dairy Farm. In the Silage unit fodder crops such as maize, sweet sorghum and pearl millet already grown for fodder are used. These crops are very well known for their nutritious values in silage making. In this unit the process of making silage and use of chafer cutter is demonstrated to the local farmers.
