Eternal University, Baru Sahib celebrated “International Yoga Day”, with the Theme: “Be with Yoga, Be at Home” on June 21, 2021. National Service Scheme (NSS) & National Cadet Corps unit of Eternal University collectively organized different events for residents of the University and student at home. The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness and benefits of practicing yoga worldwide. A growing trend of people around the world embracing Yoga to stay healthy and rejuvenated to fight with the social isolation and depression witnessed during the pandemic. Yoga is also playing a significant role in the psycho-social care and rehabilitation of COVID-19 patients in quarantine and isolation. It is particularly helpful in allaying their fears and anxiety. The occasion was graced by more than 200 students staying at home through online quiz and preparation of posters.

The day began with the Awareness rally with social distancing was flagged off by Dr. A.S Ahluwalia, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Eternal University, Baru Sahib. An awareness rally was organized with the theme “Friendly walk for healthy life” in which approximately 200 volunteers participated. After covering a track of 2km all the participants joined Yoga session, which was enriched with general information about yoga. Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor cum Athletic coach, Physical education demonstrated some basic exercises in the sports ground.
At the end pledged was taken by all the participants to adopt yoga a daily part of their lives to enhance physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual strength and well-being.
