Course Overview
Master of Science (M.Sc.) program in Botany is a two year degree program in Life (Plant) Sciences. All the students of life sciences with botany or biology as one of the subject in their bachelor degree program are eligible for M.Sc. Botany. The duration of the course and their syllabus is divided into semester systems. Each semester in these courses are of six months. Subjects taught under this program is provided with theory lecture, practicals and tutorials on hourly basis with total credits of 20-24 per week. Examination scheme in each semester is divided into sub-components such as quiz/tutorial/viva-voce, assignments, seminar, sessional & end-semester exams, and dissertation research. It covers a wide range of scientific disciplines of botany concerned with the study of lower as well as higher plants.
M.Sc. Botany includes papers of plant sciences which are in more depth and diverse which includes basic as well as advance field of research and teaching in Bryology, Pteridology, Gymnosperms, Plant Resource Utilization, Angiosperms: Phylogeny & Embryology, Phycology, Cell & Molecular Biology. Plant Anatomy, Taxonomy of Angiosperms, Cytogenetics & Plant Breeding, Environmental Botany, Mycology, Synopsis Seminar, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Plants, Plant & Animal Biotechnology, Forestry, Comprehensive Test & Field Botany, Plant Pathology, Plant Physiology, Seminar, Research Methodology, Computational Biology & Biostatics, Genetic Engineering.
