Course Overview
It is a two-year postgraduate programme distributed in four semesters initiated with an objective to provide advanced knowledge on various aspects of Genetics and Plant Breeding strategies in various crops along with the application of technology in this aspect. This programme acts as interface between the knowledge and student and the curriculum make students self reliant towards trouble shooting that prepare them to face any sort of challenge.
The major areas of focus include various breeding strategies for cross pollinating and self pollinating crops, Chromosomal studies, Molecular breeding, development of high quality seeds and their release. The programme is the best amalgamation of Practical and Theory courses which enables the student to resolve their problems associated with crop breeding under different conditions.
The programme focuses on career-oriented subjects like Principles of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Cytology and Cytogenetics, Mutation Breeding, Heterosis Breeding, Population Genetics and Genomics, Proteomics & Transcriptomics.

B.Sc. Agriculture/ Horticulture or B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture/ Horticulture with minimum 50% marks from a recognized university.
