Akal College of Nursing is the 1st nursing college established in the year 2008 by the ‘KALGIDHAR TRUST’, in the valley of divine peace ‘BARU SAHIB’ situated in the shadows of the great Himalaya in the Northern part of India the well-known land of Gods and Goddess, thus called “Dev-Bhoomi” Himachal Pradesh. Akal College of Nursing, the first college in Himachal Pradesh was accredited by The President of Indian Nursing council, New Delhi vide Resolution No. 138/02/August/2008 of Dated 14th October 2008 & approved by H.P. Registration Council. The Akal College of Nursing offers B. Sc. Nursing course and M. Sc. Nursing Course/programme approved/ affiliated by Himachal Pradesh Nursing Registration Council (HPNRC) and Indian Nursing Council (INC). The college admits 60 and 25 students annually for Bachelors and Masters in nursing. For Master’s programme in nursing the college have seats in Medical Surgical Nursing, Obstetric & Gynaecological Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing and Community Health Nursing with super speciality in Oncology, Critical Care and Cardiothoracic Nursing. The college has its goal to train and prepare professionally competent and dedicated nurses, imbued with the spirit of service to humanity at large and capable of facing various challenges while rendering nursing care at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. The journey of students in Akal College of Nursing is shaped by a variety of experiences, including academic studies, volunteer work, extracurricular activities and value based education.

The past few years have seen an escalation in the demand for Public Health professionals in India and at global level. We at the Centre are committed to providing a local as well as global perspective to various public health problems. With a dedicated team of faculty holding expertise in their respective fields, we take an honest approach to the interdisplinary nature of Public Health. The mission of the Centre is to prepare professionals with a critical acumen so that we can together contribute to the larger pool of academia and research.
